The narrow spout is the entire point: the water lands where you aim it, at the speed you choose, and the grounds stay level instead of being blasted to one side. It is the single piece of gear that changes pour over on the first try.

Who it is for
Pour-over and filter coffee, where the pour rate is the variable you control. It changes the cup more than a better grinder does at this stage.
Who it is not for
Slow for tea and for filling a pan. If it is your only kettle, you will find the narrow spout tedious by the second week.
One thing worth knowing
Pour in slow circles from the centre outward, and stop before the bed runs dry. Most bitterness at home comes from pouring too fast, not from the beans.
